Understanding the Art of Jin Shin

How does it work?

Jin Shin works with the body's natural flow of energy, known as Ki. In traditional Jin Shin teachings, Tai Eki refers to the body's fluid energy, while Ki Eki describes its vital energy. Through gentle touch at the 26 Safety Energy Locations, we aim to harmonise these flows, release energetic stagnation and encourage balance throughout the body. It is a subtle practice that recognises the interconnectedness of our energy, fluids, body and mind.

Your session will be 55 minutes.  During a session, you remain fully clothed while relaxing on a comfortable massage table. Your practitioner will place their hands on designated energy pathways. Most clients experience deep relaxation, a soothing sense of warmth, and a quiet, meditative state of mind.  You will be given self care holds to practice at home.

Jin Shin encourages deep relaxation, helping to ease stress and tension, support restful sleep and promote emotional balance. Through gentle touch, it may help calm the nervous system, encourage a sense of renewed energy and vitality, and support the body's natural capacity for balance and wellbeing. It offers a peaceful space to reconnect with yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally.  The breath deepens, the healing happens.

The origins of the art

The Art of Jin Shin has its roots in ancient Japanese wisdom and was rediscovered in the early 20th century by Jiro Murai, who dedicated his life to exploring the body's natural energy pathways and the relationship between touch, breath and wellbeing.  His teachings were passed to Mary Burmeister, who brought Jin Shin Jyutsu to the West in the 1950s, sharing this gentle art of harmonising body, mind and spirit.  Today, The Art of Jin Shin continues to be practised and shared around the world, offering a beautifully simple way to reconnect with ourselves through the wisdom of our own hands.  My teacher Alexis Brink, is dedicated to bringing the Art to every body - make it accessible to all ages.
